The <strong>\u201corder now\u201d CTA button<\/strong>, which appears twice, is bright green. Limit Button Count<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>We have another issue with that J. Crew email we shared above. There are four <strong>CTA buttons<\/strong> all in a row! Yes, they\u2019re for men\u2019s, women\u2019s, girls\u2019, and boys\u2019 clothes, but the buttons could have been designed more efficiently.<\/p>\n<p>For example, there could have been only two <strong>CTAs<\/strong>, one for women\u2019s and girls\u2019 clothes and the other for men\u2019s and boys\u2019 clothes. That would have been better.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise, they could have used a single <strong>CTA<\/strong> that said something like \u201c<strong>shop now<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The more <strong>CTA buttons<\/strong> you have, the more confusing it gets for your lead or customer. We don\u2019t recommend any more than two.<\/p>\n<p>The Pizza Hut email example above is a good one to follow for dual <strong>CTA buttons<\/strong>. The first button is right at the top, above the fold, where you can definitely see it.<\/p>\n<p>Then, after Pizza Hut shares a unique coupon code, there\u2019s a second button. This is to make it more convenient for a person to shop.<\/p>\n<p>Why should they scroll back up and click the first button when there\u2019s a second one right there? That\u2019s much more convenient.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"8_Both_CTAs_Dont_Have_to_Be_the_Same\"><\/span>8. Both CTAs Don\u2019t Have to Be the Same<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>In the last tip, we talked about the Pizza Hut email as an example of using two <strong>CTA buttons<\/strong> in one email. As you can see in that image, both those <strong>CTAs<\/strong> are the same.<\/p>\n<p>They have the same wording, the same color, the same everything.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re using two <strong>CTAs<\/strong>, do they always have to be identical? Not at all. This is known as having a<strong> secondary CTA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a good example of a <strong>secondary CTA<\/strong> in action with two different messages. It comes from the pharmacy brand T.C. The <strong>secondary CTA<\/strong> is transparent with yellow text that reads \u201cview products.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Presenting two <strong>CTA buttons<\/strong> like this gives the lead more options. Maybe they\u2019re not interested in the energy drink that T.C Pharma is selling for some reason.<\/p>\n<p>If that\u2019s the case, they can always click the <strong>secondary CTA<\/strong>. It kind of feels like you\u2019re assuming for the customer that yes, they want to try your product\/service.<\/p>\n<p>Wouldn\u2019t it be safer to stick to second person (\u201cyou,\u201d \u201cyour,\u201d etc.)?<\/p>\n<p>Sure, it\u2019s safer, but it doesn\u2019t convert nearly as well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unbounce.com\/a-b-testing\/failed-ab-test-results\/\">Unbounce<\/a> A\/B tested the<strong> first person versus second person CTAs<\/strong> back in 2013. What they found was conversions were significantly higher when copy was written in the first person than it was in the second person.<\/p>\n<p>Leads and customers alike respond to personalization. It makes them feel like the company is paying attention to them as an individual.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Writing CTAs and email newsletters<\/strong> in the first person is another way to personalize your message.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"10_Buttons_Arent_the_Only_Option\"><\/span>10. Buttons Aren\u2019t the Only Option<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>When most marketers think of <strong>CTAs<\/strong>, they think of buttons. Sometimes you can forget that there are indeed other options out there.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, why not use a <strong>text-based CTA<\/strong>? That\u2019s what beard retail company Beardbrand did in their <strong>email newsletter<\/strong>.
